Zorlu Enerji took a new step in its sustainability journey and became a member of UN Global Compact

Zorlu Enerji, one of the leading companies in the field of sustainability in the energy sector, has strengthened its position among the institutions that adopt the vision of sustainability, and carried its studies in this field to the next level.

Zorlu Enerji, a participant member of the United Nations (UN) Global Compact, the world's largest corporate sustainability initiative, has added a new step to its steps in this area. 

Zorlu Enerji became a member of UN Global Compact, which has adopted its principles for nearly 10 years and shaped its work accordingly, within the scope of its sustainability-oriented change and transformation movement, which it has realized with the vision of Smart Life 2030. Participating member companies undertake to harmonize their strategies, policies and procedures with these principles by taking into consideration the basic responsibilities of the business world in the fields of human rights, labor standards, environment and anti-corruption. 

Taking into account the 10 principles of UN Global Compact, where Zorlu Holding was a participant member in 2010, Zorlu Enerji continued its activities until today, as a member of UN Global Compact, took part in the largest corporate sustainability initiative in the world, carried to the level.

Since 2009, Zorlu Enerji has been sharing the 'Sustainability Report' covering the 10 principles of UN Global Compact every two years within the framework of the GRI (Global Reporting Initiative). With the membership of UN Global Compact, Zorlu Enerji will continue to publish its sustainability report annually as of 2020.

UN Global Compact Turkey's local network of the Global Compact Turkey sees as a meeting point functions for the establishment of the sharing and collaboration of best practice in the development of the sustainability of members with the resources that perform the activities and provide supporting both the local as well as global scale.

Zorlu Enerji's sustainability vision

Istanbul Stock Exchange since 2016 with the vision of Zorlu Enerji Sustainability continued to take place on a voluntary basis in the Index has performed Turkey's first Green Credit agreement in the amount of USD 10 million from Garanti BBVA. He was also among the signatories of Women's Empowerment Principles (WEPs) to provide an “equal life” for women and men in the energy sector within the scope of gender equality efforts.

Zorlu Enerji became the first electricity generation company certified with the SA8000 standard published by Zorlu Natural Company and the International Social Responsibility Organization. Also, with retail operations in Eskisehir, Turkey Accreditation Agency (TÜRKAK) accredited Occupational Health and Safety Management System (ISO 45001: 2018) was awarded the first certificate to take Zorlu Enerji in Turkey.
