Zorlu Enerji has once more become the “Hero of Low Carbon”

Zorlu Enerji received the “Low Carbon Hero” Award with its “Investment in the Future with Clean Transportation: ZES&electrip initiative”.  Zorlu Enerji General Manage Ali Kındap spoke at the 4th Istanbul Carbon Summit, which was organized by the Sustainable Production and Consumption Association (SUT-D). “Zorlu Enerji participates in all work that reduces carbon emissions and helps increase renewable energy.  We are working to maximize the rate of renewable energy, 87 percent of which is in our portfolio in Turkey,” he said.

The 4th Istanbul Carbon Summit, which was organized by the Sustainable Production and Consumption Association (SUT-D) brought together companies conducting work on the carbon economy and carbon reduction at the ITU Suleyman Demirel Culture Center.

Zorlu Enerji won the “Low Energy Hero” award at the award ceremony held for the fifth time this year. In recent years, Zorlu has received awards with its “Our Energy for the Children” corporate social responsibility project, which it conducted for primary school students in different regions of Turkey, and the Zero Carbon Footprint Project, and it was selected to be the “Low Carbon Hero” for the third time.

“Toward self-contained homes/cities”

Zorlu Enerji General Manager Ali Kındap spoke at the summit in the session entitled “Carbon Management and Industry”, which was moderated by Prof. Dr. Filiz Karaosmanoğlu. “The newest main trends in the energy sector are heading to a destination that is decreasing carbon emissions,” Kındap said. “We are heading toward self-contained homes/cities using renewable energy sources like solar and wind and benefitting from conventional systems that offer energy supply to homes by setting up power stations. The development of technology and drop in cost that have occurred in energy-storage systems support this trend. It is possible to even further reduce the carbon footprint in the energy sector by averting fluctuations in energy production from renewable energy resources in this regard.”

Zorlu Enerji General Manager Ali Kındap stated that he was glad to be awarded with the “Low Carbon Hero” for the third time in the scope of the Istanbul Carbon Summit. “Zorlu Enerji participates in all work that reduces carbon emissions and helps increase renewable energy. We are working to maximize the rate of renewable energy, 87 percent of which is in our portfolio in Turkey,” he said.
