While the supply chain in the energy sector faces new challenges in critical areas such as carbon reduction, digitalization, and resilience both globally and in Türkiye, this transformation also brings many opportunities. As Zorlu Enerji, with our understanding of responsible supply chain management, we aim to support both our suppliers and Zorlu Enerji in achieving their sustainability goals.
To manage our supply chain responsibly, we carry out our procurement processes through our central and local organizations and evaluate our suppliers from a sustainability perspective. In supplier selection, we consider national and international standards and require compliance with Zorlu Holding Procurement Principles, Zorlu Enerji Sustainable Supply Chain Policy, and the Code of Ethics. We regularly provide information to our suppliers to ensure their compliance with these principles and offer training when necessary. In line with our business philosophy that is sensitive to the environment and society, we expect our business partners to adopt the same sustainability approach.
In our relevant tender processes, the OHS&E (Occupational Health, Safety, and Environment) Specifications prepared according to the nature of the work are used as one of the main criteria in the technical evaluation process. In this context, we care about our suppliers' possession of the ISO 45001 Occupational Health and Safety Management System certificate and their compliance with the social criteria of international organizations such as the IFC and EBRD. We continuously review procurement practices for suppliers to ensure compliance with the Supplier Code of Conduct and to prevent potential conflicts with ESG requirements.

Identification of Critical and Strategic Suppliers and Risk Management
As Zorlu Enerji, we strive to build strong, trust-based relationships with all our stakeholders and create sustainable value. We also consider ensuring the compliance of our important business partners, our suppliers, with environmental, social, and ethical standards among our main responsibilities. In this direction, we define our critical and strategic suppliers as follows:
- Critical Suppliers: They are main equipment and service providers that are of vital importance for the continuity of our production processes (e.g. gas turbines, solar panels).
- Strategic Suppliers: They are defined as the suppliers with whom we maintain long-term partnerships in the maintenance, development, and management processes of our operations.
Interaction with Suppliers
In line with our interaction with suppliers, we work in cooperation with our critical suppliers to identify impacts and risks in our supply chain. Feedback from employees in the supply chain plays a critical role in shaping our risk assessments and determining our supplier interaction strategies.
Our efforts are based on a systematic and risk-based due diligence process aimed at evaluating compliance with Zorlu Holding Procurement Principles, which cover the procurement operations of all Zorlu Group Companies and include the fundamental rules of conduct expected from suppliers. We believe in working in collaboration with our suppliers and expect them to actively participate in risk assessments, audits, monitoring, and reporting processes.
We use various methods such as risk screenings and assessments of codes of conduct to evaluate the performance of our suppliers and to identify possible deficiencies or negative impacts.
This process evaluates the compliance of suppliers with Zorlu Holding's Code of Ethics and is integrated into our global supply chain management system to ensure real progress and continuous improvement in four fundamental steps:
Commitment: Suppliers signing a contract with Zorlu Enerji commit to complying with our code of conduct.
Risk Screening: In our supplier screening processes, we take into account the environmental, social, governance, and business-related criteria of our suppliers, and identify country-specific, sector-specific, and commodity-specific risks. In our material procurement processes, we prioritize environmental criteria and adopt sustainable supply chain management. We prefer products with low carbon footprints and recyclable features.
Evaluation: Within the scope of the evaluation, our suppliers are examined under five separate categories: sustainability, environmental performance, social responsibility, corporate governance, and additional criteria. Based on the findings, ESG scorecards and action plans are created. Evaluation criteria are shaped in accordance with ISO 26000, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, GRI, and the sector-specific guidelines and standards of the UN Global Compact.
Improvement: We provide our suppliers with detailed information and training about the ESG program. During the trainings, suppliers are informed about Zorlu Enerji’s expectations and targets, as well as the use of the self-assessment platform and the supplier portal. Based on the scores received by suppliers from the platform, areas for improvement are identified, and action plans are created to address these gaps. These actions serve as a roadmap in the suppliers’ ESG journey. In the future, these action plans will be further supported through supplier audits.
