We Care About Health and Safety

The health and safety of all our stakeholders—including our employees, contractors, and customers—are among the most fundamental priorities we uphold.

With this awareness and sense of responsibility, we integrate our health and safety processes into all decision-making mechanisms to ensure the complete physical, psychological, and social well-being of our employees. We value and support employee participation in these efforts.

To Maintain Physical Well-being:

  • We continuously review existing risks in our workplaces and carry out improvement activities.
  • We conduct drills considering potential emergency scenarios and keep our emergency awareness consistently high.
  • We provide regular trainings and awareness sessions to our employees to further advance our safety culture.
  • We continuously monitor the performance of our Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) management system through internal and external audits, identify opportunities for improvement, and enhance our processes.
  • We implement our golden rules at every level of our company.

To Maintain Psychological and Social Well-being:

  • We offer hybrid working opportunities to all employees, except those in field operations.
  • Through our healthy living partnerships, we support access to wellness services, including online consultations with dietitians, psychologists, and fitness trainers.
  • In line with recommendations from our workplace physicians, we continue preventive practices and help our employees feel secure with comprehensive private health insurance.

We Keep Up With the Times

  • We prioritize digitalization. With our IT solutions, we enable real-time reporting of accidents, near misses, and hazardous situations. Each incident is reviewed by those responsible, and necessary actions are planned and tracked.
  • We follow digitalization trends across all health and safety processes and take necessary actions accordingly.
  • The results of our internal and external audits—as well as identified improvement areas—are digitally recorded to ensure continuous improvement.

We Are Guided by National and International Standards

  • We have obtained ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 certifications. These certifications and audits ensure that our OHS-Environment (OHS-E) systems are implemented accurately and effectively.
  • At our Kızıldere III Geothermal Power Plant—the largest geothermal facility in Turkey—we conduct process safety activities in line with the BEKRA regulation.

Additionally, in certain parts of our company, our SA 8000 certification ensures that our employees work in a safe, socially, and psychologically healthy environment.


We Investigate and Improve

After every incident, we implement our accident investigation procedures, evaluate all incidents in terms of actual and potential outcomes, and create a roadmap to prevent recurrence.


We Continue to Improve

We will expand the scope of our existing SA 8000 certification across all our companies to ensure that every employee works in a safe, socially, and psychologically healthy workplace.

OUR LIFE-SAVING GOLDEN RULES

NO WORK WITHOUT A WORK PERMIT

  • According to Zorlu Enerji’s work permit procedures, it is mandatory to obtain a work permit before: entering a confined space, working at height, working on energized systems, performing hot work, or disturbing the ground where there may be hidden underground risks (e.g., electrical, gas lines, etc.).

ALWAYS FOLLOW ENERGY ISOLATION REQUIREMENTS

  • For jobs requiring mechanical, electrical, process-related, hydraulic, or similar energy isolation, no work may begin until isolation and discharge requirements are fully implemented and their effectiveness verified.

NEVER FORGET THE RISKS OF GROUND DISTURBANCE

  • Work involving man-made excavations, trenches, or pits on the ground surface cannot commence without taking specific precautions according to the nature of the work.

ALWAYS APPLY MANAGEMENT OF CHANGE (MoC)

  • No work may start if there are temporary or permanent changes in legislation, organizational structure, personnel, systems, processes, equipment, procedures, products, materials, or raw materials without properly evaluating these changes and their impacts.

NEVER FORGET THE RISKS OF CONFINED SPACE ENTRY

  • Work in confined spaces cannot begin unless specific safety measures are taken according to the nature of the space.

NEVER FORGET THE RISKS OF LIFTING OPERATIONS

  • Cranes or other mechanical lifting equipment must not be operated or used unless all necessary conditions are met.

ALWAYS PAY ATTENTION TO DRIVING SAFETY

  • All vehicles, including mobile work equipment, must not be operated or used unless all necessary conditions are met.

NEVER FORGET THE RISKS OF WORKING AT HEIGHT

  • Work at height must only be carried out by competent personnel, using appropriate equipment and after all necessary safety precautions have been taken.
    Working at height under any other conditions is strictly prohibited.
