Continuing its operations with the goal of a sustainable future in line with its Smart Life 2030 vision, Zorlu Enerji was honored with three separate awards at the Communitas Awards for its projects rooted in both social and environmental awareness. At the Communitas Awards—one of the most prestigious global award programs in the field of social responsibility—Zorlu Enerji received recognition in the “Excellence” category for the “Lesson Support Project,” which promotes equal opportunities in education; the “ZExperience Program,” which supports the personal and professional development of youth; and the “Net Zero Roadmap,” which aims to reduce carbon emissions. These projects were awarded under the categories of “Corporate Social Responsibility / Philanthropy,” “Organization / Community Service,” and “Ethical and Environmental Responsibility / Sustainability,” respectively.
We are developing solutions to meet the needs of the future
Funda Küçükosmanoğlu, Director of Marketing and Corporate Communications at Zorlu Enerji, emphasized the company's leadership in the sector’s transformation focused on climate change, digitalization, automation, and electrification through its portfolio and solutions centered on decarbonization and future technologies. She said, “We believe that sustainable development is only possible through value-creating businesses and projects. At Zorlu Enerji, we develop solutions today to meet the needs of tomorrow, always acting with a focus on generating positive impact. In line with this, our Lesson Support Project—launched in collaboration with the School Support Association and driven by a commitment to a more sustainable society—received the ‘Corporate Social Responsibility / Philanthropy’ award in the ‘Excellence’ category at the Communitas Awards. Through this project, we aim to provide students with equal access to education and to support their academic and personal development.”
We support the personal and professional development of youth
Stating that the ZExperience Program was launched to support university students in their personal and professional development, Küçükosmanoğlu continued, “ZExperience, which we implemented to help young people gain personal skills and competencies both during and after their education, was another of our valuable award-winning projects at the Communitas Awards. In this project, we collaborated with imece—a platform co-founded by Zorlu Holding that supports the development of the social innovation ecosystem in Turkey. Through this program, we brought together Zorlu Enerji scholarship recipients with respected academics from leading institutions, experts from Zorlu Enerji, and our volunteer colleagues within Zorlu Group’s corporate volunteering initiative, the Sparks Movement. This provided an opportunity to share not only theoretical knowledge but also best practices from professional life. Design thinking, project development and management, global goals and sustainability, teamwork, and project ideation were the areas in which students made the most progress. These two educational projects directly contribute to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals—‘Quality Education’ (Goal 4) and ‘Reduced Inequalities’ (Goal 10).”
“We are also aware of the importance of minimizing our environmental impact. For this reason, we became the first energy company in Turkey to commit to the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) at a global level and had our 2040 net-zero emissions target approved. We calculate and verify the direct and indirect greenhouse gas emissions generated by our operations. Our project directly contributes to the Sustainable Development Goals of ‘Affordable and Clean Energy’ (Goal 7), ‘Climate Action’ (Goal 13), and ‘Life on Land’ (Goal 15). With our Net Zero Roadmap—recognized with an award at the Communitas Awards—we strive to set an example for all our stakeholders. These awards inspire us to continue advancing toward our goals.”
