Geothermal Energy: For a Clean and Sustainable Future
Geothermal energy is a renewable and sustainable energy source that generates electricity and heat by utilizing underground hot water and steam. With significantly lower carbon emissions compared to fossil fuels, geothermal energy also enhances Turkey’s energy supply security thanks to its domestic nature.
Empowering the Future Through Local Production
As Zorlu Enerji, we became the first company in Turkey to promote local manufacturing in geothermal energy by using domestically produced ejectors in our geothermal power plants. Through these efforts, we contribute to increasing local content in energy production and strengthening Turkey’s energy independence.
Turkey’s Largest Geothermal Power Plant: Kızıldere I, II and III
We commissioned Turkey’s first geothermal power plant, Kızıldere 1 (15 MW), and in 2013, we launched the 80 MW Kızıldere 2 Geothermal Power Plant with an investment of USD 250 million.
With a total investment of USD 320 million, we added two more units under the Kızıldere 3 Project. The first unit has a capacity of 99.5 MW and the second unit adds 65.5 MW, bringing the total installed capacity at the Kızıldere site to 165 MW. This makes Kızıldere Turkey’s largest and one of the world’s leading geothermal power plants.
Alaşehir I Geothermal & Solar Hybrid Power Plant
Our 45 MW Alaşehir I Geothermal Power Plant in Manisa-Alaşehir has been converted into a hybrid power plant with the addition of a 3.75 MWp solar energy unit.
By combining geothermal energy as the main source and solar energy as a supplementary source, our hybrid power plant aims to make more efficient use of renewable energy resources.
