Rotor Electricity Generation

Rotor Elektrik Üretim A.Ş. (Rotor) is established aiming to install Wind Power Plants and it was added to portfolio of Zorlu Enerji in 2007.

Rotor, received electricity generation license from Energy Market Regulatory Authority on December 19, 2003 for 30 years to generate electricity in Osmaniye with its “Wind Power Plant” having an installed capacity of 135 MW. The construction of Osmaniye Wind Power Plant of Rotor, one of Zorlu Enerji affiliates, started on July 2008. By the end of 2010, all 54 turbines’ provisional acceptance was realized and the plant was connected to the national network with an installed capacity of 135 MW. 

Rotor signed over its licenses for construction and commission of wind power plants and to generate power for 25 years starting from 05 August 2008 on two different regions of Osmaniye city with an installed capacity of 50 MW and 60 MW to Zorlu Rüzgar Enerjisi Elektrik Üretim A.Ş. with a Board Decision number 2009/9 on 16.11.2009. The sign over decision was approved by EMRA and license no EÜ/2650 – 3/ 1648 dated 15.07.2010 and license no EÜ/2650 – 4/1649 dated 15.07.2010 were granted to Zorlu Rüzgar Enerjisi Elektrik Üretim A.Ş. by EMRA.

In construction phase of the plant, comprehensive environmental and social studies were carried out. To contribute to protection of the natural structure and to improve the socio-economic status of the locals, varying projects are being developed and education of the youth is supported through Mehmet Zorlu Foundation.

Environmental monitoring, forestation, social and agricultural study works are carried out in Gökçedağ Wind Power Plant’s generation area and impact area. Gökçedağ Plant owns a Gold Standard certificate with its awareness to ecological and social balance and also integrated to Voluntary Carbon Market.
