Waste Management

Waste management constitutes one of the most crucial point of our environmental management approach. For this reason, we pay utmost attention to waste management and waste reduction, defining areas of responsibility beyond legal obligations with an environmental responsibility approach.

Due to our activities, waste production is occured in infrastructure, maintenance and repair works. According to the types; Hazardous wastes, electronic wastes, metallic wastes, packaging wastes and waste batteries are formed within our structure, and these are collected in our temporary waste storage areas that located in suitable positions. Wastes accumulated in these areas for maximum period of 6 months and are disposed of by authorized disposal companies. In addition, scrap materials as meters, regulators, metallic and polyethylene pipes and plastic materials are collected due to recycling process in accordance with regulations.

Minimizing the environmental impacts of our natural gas network construction, maintenance and repair processes and other activities and providing a clean environment for all our employees, stakeholders and the local people is one of our priorities. For this reason, we adopt planning proactive measures such as preventing direct or indirect damage to the environmental aspects as human health that is the most crucial one, reducing waste at source and eliminating environmental wastes with appropriate methods, using natural resources with most efficient way, minimizing environmental damage in the event of an accident or emergency that may occur during our activities.

Milestones in Waste Management:

  • Within the scope of our gas distribution activities, Industrial Waste Management Plans (EAYP) were prepared and approval letter was received by 10.09.2020 Provincial Directorate of Environment.
  • Flue Gas Emission measurements were made in 2020. In 2020, requirements were fulfilled within the framework of the Zero Waste Management Instruction, and applications for a Zero Waste Certificate were made.
  • Industrial Materials and Hazardous Waste Compulsory Liability Insurance Policies were made on 27.04.2020.
