Within the scope of the sustainability-oriented change and transformation movement implemented in line with the Smart Life 2030 vision under the auspices Zorlu Holding, Zorlu Enerji took part in the world's largest corporate sustainability initiative and carried its sustainability efforts to the next level in 2020 by being a participant member of the UN Global Compact (United Nations Global Compact), which it has adopted its principles for about 10 years and shaped its business accordingly .
UNGC Young Sustainable Development Goal Innovators
The Young SDG Innovators Program, conducted by the UN Global Compact on a global scale, aims to mobilize future business leaders and makers of difference to rethink traditional business models and uncover new business opportunities. Young professionals working in member companies learn business models based on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and they are encouraged to develop new products and services towards these goals. Zorlu Enerji's young people will participate for the first time in this particular program planned between January-October 2021. They will work to design more sustainable business models, initiatives, and products. They will also carry Zorlu Enerji's sustainability efforts further.
CDP-Carbon Disclosure Project
Zorlu Enerji was included in the Carbon Disclosure Project in 2010 and started to notify its corporate policies and targets on climate change and targets to reduce carbon emissions. Zorlu Enerji is the first energy company from Turkey to participating in the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP-Carbon Disclosure Project).
2°C Declaration Signatory and Climate Platform
We are the 2°C Declaration Signatory prepared under the leadership of "Corporate Leaders Network for Climate Action" and the founder member of "Turkey Climate Change Leaders Group of the Climate Platform.”
GRI- Global Reporting Initiative
Since 2009, sustainability reports are biennially publishing within the framework of GRI (Global Reporting Initiative). After being a member of the UN Global Compact, sustainability reports will start to be published annually as of 2020.
WEPs - Women's Empowerment Principles
While contributing to the studies on gender equality, which is one of the essential parts of the of the sustainability-oriented change and transformation movement, with the gender equality program, we signed the Women's Empowerment Principles (WEPs) as a guide. WEPs, the joint initiative of UN Women and the UN Global Compact, is a set of principles that provide guidance on promoting gender equality and women's empowerment in the workplace and society.
BIST Sustainability Index
Zorlu Enerji took its place for the 4th time in a row with its 6th sustainability report in the Borsa Istanbul (BIST) Sustainability Index , which includes companies with high sustainability performances and traded on Borsa Istanbul.
30% Club Platfom
With the belief that women should have a say in the business world, Zorlu Enerji is a member of the 30% Club Platform, which aims "at least 30% female representation in the executive boards and senior management levels". As of the end of 2020, 2 of the 9 Zorlu Enerji Board of Directors are women.
Platform Collaborations
We support various projects of WinG Turkey (Woman in Geothermal Turkey) and TWRE (Turkish Woman and Renewable Energy), two leading women's organizations in the sector that support the career advancement, professional development, and training of women working in the renewable energy sector.
TÜSİAD - Turkish Industrialists' and Businessmen's Association
Zorlu Enerji participates in the Environment, Energy and Climate Change and Green Consensus Task Force's working groups, which are Turkish Industrialists' and Businessmen's Association’s (TÜSİAD) active members in the field of energy. Working on relevant regulations, problems, and solutions, Zorlu Enerji actively develops cooperation and projects within this scope.
SKD – Business Council for Sustainable Development Association
By participating in the Energy, Circular Economy, and Sustainable Finance working groups of the Business Council for Sustainable Development Association, we carry out our efforts on solving problems and providing solution proposals.
Mehmet Zorlu Foundation
We cooperate with the Mehmet Zorlu Foundation, which was established with the aim of contributing to developing generations that have dreams, self-belief, and self-confidence to make a difference in the lives of young people who are preparing themselves to be among the best in every stage, in the fields of Zero Carbon Footprint Forests Project and Scholarship Program.
